WINDOWS 95 HARD DRIVE UPGRADES/BACKUP

1.  Install the new drive as a slave drive.

2.  Make BIOS changes to reflect new drive. Auto-detect if possible.

3.  Partition the slave drive with FDISK as a primary partition.

4.  Reboot and FORMAT D: /S at the DOS Prompt.

5.  Create a Windows 95 Startup Disk, if necessary.

        Start-Settings-Control Panel and double-click Add/Remove Programs.  Click the Startup Disk tab and click Create Disk, and follow the instructions

6  Close all running applications, then choose: Start-Run:

        XCOPY C:\*.* /E /H /K /R /C D:

7. Shutdown Windows 95.  Disconnect the master drive and configure the slave drive as a master drive.  Make BIOS changes to reflect drive changes.

8. Boot off the Windows 95 Startup Disk or OEM boot disk.

9.  FDISK to make Partition 1 active.

10. Remove the Startup disk and reboot the system from the hard drive.
