A new attack disguised as a Windows 11 upgrade is currently infecting systems worldwide. These attacks result in the installation of Redline malware, a prolific program capable of stealing usernames, passwords, cryptocurrency wallets, and more.
Attackers are advertising free upgrades to Windows 11 on social media, email, and other channels. These link to fake websites like the one below that appear to be official Microsoft sites.
What should I do?
For most users, LeeShanok still recommends delaying the upgrade to Windows 11.
You should always avoid clicking links that take you to a website to download any Windows update. Windows updates should be done via the official Windows upgrade system alerts or by your IT team.
